clothbound
i’m sure most of you fellow book lovers have seen the Penguin classics with their new Coralie Bickford-Smith designed covers, which are a designer’s dream, and i long to own them all. If literature isn’t enough of an art for someone, surely holding one of these will feel like a masterpiece in their hands. In case you have yet to see them, here’s part of the collection. (the design carries on to the front and back covers as well)
“As e-books take off as a convenient way for people to read, books are going to have to work harder to justify their existence as physical objects, which is where designers come in.”- Bickford-Smith
All of this to lead up to saying that there is another series of designer clothbound book that has arrived, this time by White’s Books, headed up by the former book designer for Penguin. Enjoy these…it’s a different take than Bickford-Smith’s.
both of which, i love to pieces.
